1. Go to the Java SE download page on the Oracle website: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
  2. Click on the Java platform JDK download link; this will take you to the license agreement page. Accept the license agreement by selecting the “Accept License Agreement” radio button..
  3. Click the download link for the proper build for you OS and system architecture.
  4. Run the installation for the downloaded JDK.
  5. Make a note of the Java Installation path.
    For me it was C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_25\
  6. Setup the Java Environment Variables as JAVA_HOME as the path the Java Installation.

If everything is set up correctly when you run the java -version command in the command prompt the installed version of Java will be displayed.
